Amol Saxena, DPM provides an outline for the current treatment of lower extremity stress fractures below the knee. Diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, including the indications for bone stimulation are reviewed. Difficult to heal injuries such as Navicular and proximal lateral lesser metatarsal stress fractures are explained in detail. The listener should be able to definitively diagnose and treat these injuries after completing this session.

Steve A. McClain, MD reviews impaired wound healing in the general population and in diabetics. Dr McClain also relates the anatomy of the skin and the factors important in the healing process. Dr McClain defines delayed healing, discusses animal research and identifies multiple factors that can cause delayed wound healing. Dr McClain also recognizes the role of collagenase inhibitors for wound healing.
